The CNIB (formerly known as the Canadian National Institute For The Blind) provides, support, information and hope to all Canadians affected by loss of vision. Approximately three million Canadians have a print disability - this inhibits their ability to access to conventional text.

The Canadian National Institute For the Blind (CNIB) was formally founded in 1918, although their beginnings date back to 1906. The CNIB are one of the oldest charitable organizations in Canada.

The institute is seen as recognized experts in the field of vision. Their purpose is to prevent blindness and to help people with vision loss.
